Here are excerpts from our exclusive interview with Santa Claus….
MoveScape Center (MC): You’ve been around for centuries, Santa. To what do you attribute your long life?
Santa (S): Well, the public’s image of me keeps changing. In the early days, I delivered presents by riding on a horse and leaving the gifts in children’s shoes outside the house. And I used to have a muscular six-pack and buns of steel.
MC: What changed?
S: In 1823, Clement Clarke Moore wrote the poem, “A Visit from St. Nicholas.” It completely altered the public’s image of me.
MC: In what ways?
S: Well, first of all, I had to become “chubby and plump.” Then I had to get eight reindeer and learn to drive, or rather fly, a sleigh. Finally, I had to start using the chimney to deliver presents. Do you have any idea how hard it is to go up and down inside a chimney?
MC: No – what’s your secret?
S: Thanks to Rudolf (Laban not the reindeer), I’ve learned about shape flow. I shrink to slide down, then grow to come “out with a bound,” as Clement Moore describes.
MC: That’s fascinating. What other fitness hints do you have?
